Why am I unable to associate a published rubric with a D2L tool?

If you are unable to associate a published D2L rubric with another tool, such as a Discussion topic or Submission folder, it is likely due to an issue with the rubric’s properties. The setting “Allow new associations in Competencies” must be selected in order for a rubric to be available for associations with D2L tools. These directions will guide you through how you update the rubric’s properties to include this required setting:

  1. Navigate to Edit Course.
  2. Click Rubrics.
  3. Locate the rubric in the list, and click the small arrow to the right of the rubric’s name to release a dropdown menu.
  4. Choose Edit Properties.
  5. Scroll to the Advanced Availability settings.
  6. Select the bubble to the left of Competencies.
  7. Click Save at the bottom of the page.
