Unfortunately there’s no such thing as a perfect time to upgrade a campus-wide system. This is partly because DePaul offers both quarter and semester-based programs – and because employees also receive holiday breaks off.
The weekend of August 26th allows Summer Session courses to be completed without an interface shift midway; an interface shift mid-summer would be especially disorienting for courses that run for the entire Summer Session.
The good news is that we don’t anticipate another major D2L upgrade or shift for a while. Following the weekend of August 26th, our iteration of D2L will be on continuous release. This means that small improvements will happen every few weeks without major disruptions.
We will be documenting any improvements in the system on our FITS Tech Updates blog, as well as answers to frequently asked questions, tips and tricks, and solutions for known issues. We recommend subscribing (via the Subscribe via Email option) so you can stay up to date on the latest DePaul D2L happenings!
