Beginning with the January 10.7.9 update, inserting a shared file from Google Drive will now provide an indicator if the file is set to Private view, allowing you to share the item properly to students. Instructors will then have the option to update the sharing settings of the file before finalizing the link in the course.
This helps to prevent students contacting instructors when they are unable to view a file due to permissions settings.
