Hidden Submission folders will display in Draft mode in the Content area of a D2L course. When items are set to Draft in the Content area of a course, they are not visible to students within the Content area or in the Submissions area:
If the Submission folder is Published via the Content area of the course, this will also make the Submission folder Visible to Users in the Submissions area of the course. If the Submission folder is Visible to Users in the Submissions area of the course, this will set the Submission folder to Published in the Content area of the course:
So, the Draft/Published settings on the individual Submission folder in Content are linked to the Hide from Users/Make Visible to Users settings in the Submissions area.
Please note that if an entire module or submodule is set to Draft in the Content area, this designation does not impact the visibility of Submission folders in the Submissions area of a course. Setting a module to Draft makes all of the items within the module invisible from the Content area. However, setting a module to Draft does not change the published status of the individual items within the module. So, if the module is set to Draft, but the individual Submission folder within that module is Published, the Submission Folder will be Visible to Users in the Submission area:
