When a post is created in the Activity Feed, or a comment is added to an Activity Feed post, students will by default receive a notification only in the minibar of D2L. That notification or alert appears as an orange dot over the Update alerts icon (the bell) in the minibar:
To view a more detailed explanation of the notification, you click on the Update alerts icon. (Please note that this form of notification or alert is not limited to Activity Feed posts.)
Students can receive instant notifications, via email or sms text message, when new Activity Feed posts and comments are created if they update their D2L Notification settings. Students customize their D2L Notification settings in the same way that instructors do, and instructions for customizing D2L Notifications are found here.
To receive instant notifications for all Activity Feed activity, students will want to select “Activity Feed – new posts created by others” and “Activity Feed – new comments from others on a post” when customizing their D2L Notification settings.
